Are you interested in volunteering with us?
Or are you an employer interested in taking on work-focused volunteers?
Volunteering is beneficial to all!
You can:
- Use your knowledge / experience to help others.
- Gain real work experience.
- Enhance your CV.
The aim of the placements is to help people improve their employability by reconnecting them with the labour market through skills maintenance or development. By offering work-focused volunteering placements an employer will be helping people to achieve these aims whilst looking for paid work. The placements will be short term roles that will give volunteers a taste of volunteering and the benefits it can provide.
Here's what some of our work-focused volunteers think about volunteering:
Holly: 'Very happy and grateful for time spent with Springboard Southwark, it enabled me to find a job'.
Winsome: 'Volunteering has provided an outlet for me to prepare for paid work'.
Sam: 'I have so much to offer, I'm able and glad to assist Springboard Southwark as a Research and Placement Officer'.
During the Months of November 2009 to January 2010, 6 of our very own work-focused volunteering placements obtained full time paid jobs; they credited this to entering the voluntary sector. Another is now training to become an Assistant Training Coordinator.
There are numerous success stories from work-focused volunteers testifying that it assisted with their confidence building, gaining and updating further skills, networking, relationship building, gaining team working ethics and much more.
