Train to Gain is the Government's initiative to help organisations develop their businesses through staff training. Funding is now available to train volunteers as well as employees, and can be used to pay for Basic Skills qualifications, vocational awards or National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
Train to Gain through Springboard Southwark offers organisations the opportunity to access advice, support, and staff training from a company that has more than 30 years' experience in providing vocational training and apprenticeships.
One of our Training Coordinators will visit the organisation, preferably with the manager responsible for HR, to carry out an Organisational Needs Analysis, from which they will:
- Identify training needs for the organisation and for individual staff
- Identify the funding available to pay for training
- Organise training opportunities either with Springboard or with other providers, depending on who is best placed to deliver the training
- Suggest other opportunities that may benefit the business
Much of the Train to Gain programme is fully funded. Some courses are not eligible for funding, if this is the case we will try to find the best value available or suggest alternatives to structured courses, such as online training, which may be cheaper or free. In some cases we will ask for a small contribution to costs, in which case we will make sure that the business benefits clearly outweigh the costs involved.
